Mad Max: Fury Road Noir by redghostman Mad Max: Fury Road Noir by redghostman
This illustration took me a week to work on for the glorious Mad Max: Fury Road fan art contest on Tumblr. Going off of trailers and posters as reference, I liked the idea of a fiery tornado with lighting coming out of it. When I had that, I pretty much laid everything out around that. And nothing against the movie, but it was a bitch to find a shot of Max where he didn't look like a quivering pussy. Every moment of him is either chained up or running away. This is before seeing the film, you know. I'll totally catch it next week, though.

Graphite pencil on Strathmore illustration board. Color and lettering using Adobe Photoshop CS4. 48 hours.

I was thoroughly entertained. I loved all the practical effects of the cars and the magnitude of stunts. You see a man's jaw (spoilers) ripped from his face! Every movie needs that guy with the flame guitar as their soundtrack. Just put him in a corner somewhere, I don't care if it is a romantic comedy. I laughed every time he popped up. My favorite part was Max and Nux briefly teaming up to gain power over the war rig while still chained. That and the "tree-thing."

we totally agree!!
the "tree-thing", while it made me laugh a lot, told a lot about the state of the world, and this is a trait that I particularly enjoyed in the movie: the fact that a lot was being said while not much was actually spoken.
